Wim P.J. Witjes is the Director of Clinical Research of the Department of Urology at the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and since 2004 Research Director of CuraTrial SMO & Research, located at the premises of the European Association of Urology in Arnhem. Dr. Witjes's primary research interest is the methodology and management of clinical trials. The main clinical research topics are urological oncology (prostate, bladder, kidney) and benign urologic diseases such as lower urinary tract symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia and urinary incontinence.
Dr. Witjes received his MD degree from the University of Nijmegen, 6 years of training in surgical disciplines in Dutch hospitals and training in statistics and clinical epidemiology at the University of Nijmegen. His PhD thesis was on Micturition variables in the assessment and treatment of patients with lower urinary tract symptoms where after he was graduated to Epidemiologist B in 1998.
