From more than fifty candidates - nominated by the Dutch and Belgian universities - a jury selected 25 nominees. Criteria included the scientific and social impact of research, originality and timeliness. For three weeks, the public could vote for the brightest young scientific talent. More than 11,000 people cast their votes.
Teun Bousema was in the top 5 nominees for Research Talent 2015. On September 24th, it was announced that waste expert Maaike Kroon (Eindhoven University of Technology) was the winner.
