Young Researcher Award for Michelle van der Linden

Michelle van der Linden, PhD-student at the department of Gynaecologic Oncology, received the Young Researcher Award of the Dutch Society for Vulvar Pathology (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Vulva Pathologie, NVvVP). She received a prize of €1000 to visit of a vulvar conference of choice. This award is established to encourage young talent to do research in the field of vulvar diseases

Michelle received this award for her research on the rare condition vulvar Paget’s disease. Historically, this condition is treated with major surgeries. Michelle designed a prospective, observational study for a new treatment method: topical 5% imiquimod cream for vulvar Paget’s disease. Eight Dutch centres will participate in this study. She conducts her research under the supervision of Dr. Joanne de Hullu and Prof. Leon Massuger, gynaecologic oncologists, Dr. Kim Meeuwis, dermatologist, Dr. Hans Bulten, pathologist and colleagues from other oncology centres.
