The Frye-stipendium has being awarded since 1990 yearly to ten promising female researchers from the Radboud University and Radboudumc. The stipends aim to encourage female PhD-students to visit a foreign university.
For RIMLS we congratulate:
Kalijn Bol, Dept. of Internal Medicine
Her plan is to visit both the industry (Genentech) as well as an top university (Stanford university) in San Francisco. She would like to change ideas on the newest developments in the field of Onco-Immunology, and in specific on how to improve our dendritic cell vaccinations or suitable combinations. As a clinician, she will probably not work for the Industry in the future, but she would love to learn about the way research is conducted in the industry and learn from their efficiency.
Rocío Acuna – Hidalgo, Dept. of Human Genetics
She will use the grant to fund her 3 month stay at Jay Shendure's lab at the Genome Sciences department of the University of Washington in Seattle, WA in the United States. She will use this time to learn a novel technique called Genome Saturation Editing which was published last year in Nature
