Where and when were you born?
I was born on the first of March 1985 in Berlicum, a small town close to ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Where do you live and with whom?
I live in Nijmegen, in the Indian district, together with Joep and Miep. They are the most adorable cats in the world. My boyfriend will move in very soon and luckily he turned into a cat lover as well.
Who was your role model when you were a kid?
I think my oboe teacher, Anne de Vries, was my biggest role model at that time. He played both the oboe and English horn so beautifully and expressively. He got a job as a professional oboeist when he was only 17 years old. Unfortunately he couldn’t play anymore after an haemorrhagic stroke.
Why aren’t you doing the same thing now as your role model?
I always wanted to be a doctor. Initially I wanted to combine my studies (first biomedical sciences and then medicine) with an oboe study at the conservatory, but that was not feasible. Furthermore, it’s easier to be a doctor and play the oboe as an hobby than the other way around;-)
What is the thing in your (work or other) history that you are most proud of?
I am proud that I can combine all the things I love in life: work, research, music, friends and family, sports, travelling and partying.
What is it that you would like to achieve in work in the next 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully I managed to find a really nice job as an internal doctor by then.
For what can we wake you up?
What is your hobby and how good are you at it?
Playing the oboe and squash. Please feel free to visit one or more concerts so you can hear my playing oboe and judge yourself how good I am at it.
What is your biggest irritation?
The list is long: people who cannot drive (and indeed, most of them are women), cruelty to animals, garbage all over instead of in the garbage bin, disrespect, discussions about politics on Facebook and the fact that I got afraid of flying after a terrifying flight in 2011.
Who would you like to invite for dinner, if you had the chance?
My boyfriend of course!
