Thursday March 31, the Nijmegen Bladder Cancer Study (PI Bart Kiemeney) organized an information evening for the study participants. The response to the invitation was overwhelming and ultimately, the auditorium was filled with 300 interested participants. Ten minutes before  start of the program, everyone had already found a seat, eager to hear what the seven presenters were going to say. Topics that were covered included a general background about bladder cancer, risk factors, genetic inheritance, novel developments in therapeutics and tips for the patients to improve their prognosis. Also, the chair of the patient organization “Leven met Blaas- of Nierkanker” gave a presentation. The patients and their partners participated actively and asked a lot of interesting and challenging questions to the presenters. They were also very positive about the evening being organized and the program. The evening proved to be a great instrument for public outreach and connecting to study participants.
