Where and when were you born?
I was born in Regensburg (Bavaria) on December 23rd 1981.
Where do you live and with whom?
I’m temporarily living in a large multi-national living community (University Guesthouse).
Who was your role model when you were a kid?
Asterix (when I was about five years old).
Why aren’t you doing the same thing now as your role model (or do you?)
Probably because there’s no magic potion.
What is the thing in your (work or other) history that you are most proud of?
The privilege of doing research together with genuine economists and still being actively involved in patient care as a dentist.
What is it that you would like to achieve in work in the next 5 to 10 years?
I am keen to proactively work towards improving individual and population oral health through:
1. Identification of cost-effective and equitable approaches for prevention and treatment of oral diseases; evidence-informed design of suitable provider payment mechanisms
2. Implementation of reflective feedback systems and development of state-of-the-art information technology for continuous improvement of quality and safety of oral health care
3. Enhancement of strategies for transfer of knowledge into clinical practice and health policy; comprehensive stakeholder engagement (citizens, clinicians, insurers, policy)
For what can we wake you up?
For many things, including sunrise in Tofino.
What is your hobby and how good are you at it?
Wave riding. I’m a rookie.
What is your biggest irritation?
People who never try to move out of their comfort zone.
