Personalized blood pressure therapy in hypertensive patients: an analysis of the SPRINT trial
A doctor treats patients based on their individual needs. In research, however, patients are all treated the same way. This study proposes to use individual treatment benefit to translate the results of the SPRINT trial to the individual patient. The individual treatment benefit balances the predicted risk of a cardiac event and a treatment related adverse events. Patients themselves can weigh possible outcomes. This way patients who are most likely to benefit are actually treated.
