Koos van der Hoeven has been appointed Professor of Medical Oncology

Koos van der Hoeven has been appointed Professor of Medical Oncology at the Radboud university medical center, with effect from 1 January 2017.
Van der Hoeven had been working at Radboud university medical center since 2015 as a medical oncologist, chief of the Division of Medical Oncology and Head a.i. Pediatric oncology.

Koos van der Hoeven (Maasland, 1952) studied medicine at the VU Amsterdam and received his doctoraal degree in 1981. He specialized in the field of internal medicine and oncology at the Andreas Hospital in Amsterdam, the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital and the VU Medical Centre. In 2004 he obtained his PhD from VU Amsterdam on the thesis entitled: Prospects for positron emission tomography in the staging and treatment of breast cancer patients.

Van der Hoeven worked as medical oncologist in the Amstelland Hospital, the Medical Center Alkmaar, and the Leiden University Medical Center. In 2015 Van der Hoeven came to Nijmegen. In addition to the functions mentioned before, he is co-chairman of the Center for Oncology and president of the Foundation AYA (Adolescents and young adults), which stimulates optimal care and research in the field of young patients with cancer.
