Stefan Listl has been appointed Professor of Quality and Safety of Oral care at the Radboud university medical center with effect from 1 May 2016. On 22 June Stefan Listl held his inaugural lecture entitled "Chances and challenge for improving quality & safety of oral healthcare".
Stefan Listl (Regensburg, 1981) studied at the universities of Regensburg, Mannheim (Germany) and York (UK) and holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (2008), a Master of Science in Health Economics (2008) and a Master of Science in Economics (2009). Since 2009, Michael Listl has been working in various positions at the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University, including as associate Professor and head Translational Health Economics of the Department of Preventive and Operative Dentistry. From 2011 until now Listl also worked as a researcher in Health Economics and Econometrics at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich.
Patient-centered oral care
The new professor will lead the new research group Quality and Safety of Oral care, which aims to improve oral health by increasing knowledge and implementation of evidence-informed decision making in daily practice and giving advice about good value for money in oral care. Stefan Listl: “Oral diseases, despite being largely preventable, remain a major health problem worldwide and cause considerable costs to the individuals affected and the whole of society. Patient-centered, evidence-informed, accessible and affordable oral care is essential to warrant good oral health for everyone.”
