Cácia Signori, PhD candidate at the department of Dentistry.
Where and when were you born?
Balneário Camboriú, a city located in the south of Brazil, in the state of Santa Catarina, famous for the beautiful beaches. I was born on a summer day in February 1990, same time of carnival celebration in Brazil.
Where do you live and with whom?
I live alone in an apartment close to Radboudumc.
Who was your role model when you were a kid?
I did not have a specific role model, but I remember admiring my aunt who was a dentist for her love for the profession. Besides, I also come from a family of teachers, including my mother and aunts, so teaching always seemed inspiring.
Why aren’t you doing the same thing now as your role model (or do you?)
In fact I followed the models that I admired as a child. Today I am a dentist, and I am doing the PhD, which is necessary for me to be able to teach dentistry for undergraduate students at a good university in Brazil.
What is the thing in your (work or other) history that you are most proud of?
I am proud to be one of the responsible for the implementation of an oral health project at the Federal University of Pelotas (Brazil). In this project we investigated the diagnosis and treatment of restorations and secondary caries, a topic of great importance in dentistry.
What is it that you would like to achieve in work in the next 5 to 10 years?
Produce clinical relevant knowledge in the field of diagnosis and treatment of secondary caries. Work with research and teaching in dentistry at a University.
For what can we wake you up?
Go to the beach on a beautiful day.
What is your hobby and how good are you at it?
I love cooking. I have Italian descent, so probably the love for cooking is in the blood. I'm pretty good…most of the time…, but there is always something to learn.
What is your biggest irritation?
Who would you like to invite for dinner, if you had the chance?
Leandro Karnal. He is a Brazilian philosopher, historian, and university professor.
